d2 antenna extension unit restoration

I won this relic lot in very low price, its translation as: 'Antenna part extension Specially accessories radio station Fu.A1 Torn.d.2 Wehrmacht'.

Didn't know it could be restore or not, but when compared with my d2 antenna, found it hope to loosen it from the base, as the bracket is made of copper and the shaft is iron.

After studied the photos and compared with my antenna base, found its really the parts of the d2 antenna extension unit.

Dropped it into vinegar for 24 hours, then in WD40 for a day, still can't turn a bit, but knocked it off the base.

The only solution left was by heat, tried to heat it at the stove, and it turned a bit, repeated couple of times, its finally released.

Antenna Extension Restoration 5

The whole unit are completed, but still needs sockets and wires, needs more information on it.

The complete set, the long pole is BW, will get a period one later.

Antenna Extension Restoration 4

Now the unit is almost completed after added the wires and ropes, but the  two metal rods are temporary, unable to find 8mm diameter aluminum rods locally, had to purchase from ebay.

Also can't find thick HBT strap, the solution is to glue two thin HBT strips by cloth glue, to form a thick strap, the buckle is from British 58 webbing, then secure by screw and washer and painted black.

The 8mm aluminum rods from UK was here.

To bend the small loop, had to heat up the metal, its became soft and easy to shape.

Quiet similar to the original, lucky to have it for measuring the sizes and details.

Secure the rod and the housing through the hole on the rod.

Bought these BW tent poles for the metal end tube.

Now the end tube and the aluminum rod are both in position.
